The Arch as he is affectionately known has always stood on the side of marginalised groups in society, defending the rights of women, children and the LGBTI community. Tutu’s wrath against injustice also extended to the church. He was one of the loud voices in support of sexual orientation, and gender identity rights when many wouldn’t dare.
