ICASA 2021 | Impact of COVID-19 on the HIV/AIDS Conference: Sibongile Nkosi

The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) which got underway in Durban yesterday is discussing among others the impact of COVID-19 on the HIV-AIDS response and to share lessons from African countries on overcoming the barriers for testing and treatment. There are about 8 million people living with HIV in South Africa. According to the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa, young women in sub-Saharan Africa, continue to bear the brunt of HIV/AIDS.
