The Gauteng Coronavirus Command Council says the Omicron variant is driving the upsurge in new cases in all of the province’s districts. However, hospital admissions seem to be increasing at a much slower rate than the previous waves. South Africa is expected to enter its fourth wave in the coming weeks.
