World Aids Day | UN commemorates the day

Working fast to end inequalities that drive HIV and AIDS is among the key factors that must be addressed if the pandemic is to be ended by the Sustainable Development Goals deadline of 2030. The United Nations General Assembly marked World Aids Day with a debate titled End Inequalities, End Aids, End Pandemics- some 40 years since the first cases of HIV were reported. Today’s commemoration comes in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has exacerbated inequalities and impacted people living with HIV and AIDS, particularly in their access to treatment and health services.
