Uganda agrees to temporarily take in refugees from Afghanistan

Uganda has agreed to a request from the United States to temporarily take in two thousand refugees from Afghanistan fleeing after the Taliban takeover. Uganda’s junior minister for relief, disaster preparedness, and refugees Esther Anyakun Davinia, says the request was made yesterday by the U.S. government to President Yoweri Museveni. SABC correspondent Hillary Ayesiga said it was unclear when the refugees will start arriving.
