Pit Latrine | Poor sanitisation and infrastructure in SA schools: Andre Gaum

The date for the eradication of pit toilets has now been moved to 2023. According to the Department of Basic Education, only two thousand five hundred schools in the country are still reliant on pit toilets. However, advocacy groups, Equal Education and Section 27 have cast doubt on the latest projections by the department. To discuss this issue further, we are now joined by Commissioner Andre Gaum from the South African Human Rights Commission.
