HRW report says ethnic Tigrayans are being forcibly disappeared by Ethiopian authorities

Human Rights Watch has issued a report saying Ethiopian authorities since late June 2021 have arbitrarily detained, forcibly disappeared, and committed other abuses against ethnic Tigrayans in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. HRW says they have found that serious human rights violations by government security forces against ethnic Tigrayans in Addis Ababa have escalated since June, following eight months of fighting in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, and after Tigrayan forces recaptured the regional capital, Mekelle.
