Coalition Talks | IFP opts for a working coalition with ANC

The IFP has opted to enter into a working coalition with the ANC, after saying it would not work with the party. IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa explained that the decision means both parties will assist each other where they have the majority in councils. Hlabisa says the agreement to collaborate does not give the ruling party free reign over council affairs. The announcement follows marathon talks aimed at breaking a deadlock that came about after KwaZulu-Natal ended up with 21 hung councils.
