The month of August is used to pay homage to women for their role in the struggle in South Africa. The month is also used to celebrate and honour women who have fought against the odds and succeed in the corporate world. However, right at the beginning of August an accountability journalism project in South Africa, Viewfinder has revealed a scary picture of how women are allegedly abused by cops and almost always get away with it. An investigation by Viewfinder has revealed that policemen have been accused of nearly one thousand rapes since 2012. The majority of suspects stand accused of abusing the authority of their positions to aid them in these crimes.
