KwaZulu-Natal Treasury has released nearly a billion rand to buy textbooks and stationery to avert a crisis next year. Treasury and Education officials held an emergency meeting after the department ran out of money to procure the supplies. Treasury also announced that money has been ring-fenced to ensure the department is able to pay teachers and exam markers.
